we must carry it with us or we find it not

I realize that love is such an abstract emotion that no matter the circumstance, it is always going to be different with each person or couple. The word Love, when combined with the words I and You, will forever be a proclamation completely new in definition each time it is offered. Yet, I still can't help but wonder at each friend I see get married or engaged whether or not their love and happiness is as great as mine.

Love is my favorite word. Not because it's meaning is so wonderful and fills me with joy, but because of its depth and complexity. Love is a feeling that is immensely exceptional and remarkable, yet it also expresses common, everyday sentiments. It is said a thousand times in a day in an never ending array of circumstances. From two friends as a salutation as they hang up the phone, to a mother whispered to her child. My personal favorite is when it is yelled by a parent out the window of the car as they drop their child off at school with the intention of embarrassment. It is used between two lovers to express their deepest sentiments for the other, but never seems go far enough to fully define their feelings. It is often twisted with deceit and used to manipulate with the motive to gain rather than to give.

I define love as an expression of one's deepest sentiments-- but taken even further to wrap around the feelings of Home, acceptance, belonging, safety and bliss. Then it weaves through the realm of purity, peace, perfection and truth. At this point, the feeling of love begins to overwhelm you with such pure joy your eyes swell up with tears and there are no words that adequately express your emotions. You feel free, like when you stand on top of a cliff and feel the power of wind making you aware of how infinitely big the world is. Bring in contentment, bliss, euphoria, delight, heaven, and every feeling relating to these words. You feel relief knowing the words "I will always love you" are absolutely true, and to know that this true love is completely and perfectly selfless.

I earnestly hope for each couple whether they are married, engaged or dating, that they can experience the deepest definition of Love and better yet, even scrape the surface of experiencing the definition I have found love to be.

Sincerely,
Melissa
